alcoholism The Good Therapy in Charlotte therapy for addiction and substance use

The most important thing when it comes to deciding to get help is to take an honest look at what you have been doing. You may complete an easy online screening but let’s be honest, only you can decide if your drinking, drugs use or other addictions are a problem for you and your loved ones. This is important because they get to decide for you too. Your actions have consequences for your life and everyone else’s, now and in the future.

I am not one to judge. I believe that addiction is a very challenging syndrome that impacts body, mind, soul and society. Having worked in the field of addiction for 14 years, I also know the issue is far more complex than people think. There is no magic cure, no one-size-fits-all treatment. Despite overwhelming information about drugs and alcohol, sex addiction and other addictions, there is still a great deal we don’t know. Most importantly you are unique. Your story is unique. So is your solution.

I believe wholeheartedly that no matter how much suffering you have endured and no matter how insurmountable your problem may seem, you can overcome it.

Therapy for Addiction and Substance Use in Charlotte, NC

The topic of addiction is vast and it would be impossible to cover in one page. Fundamentally, an addiction to anything is a pattern of behaviors, thoughts and consequences that have an impact on your emotional, social, occupational and physical well-being but despite this, and despite trying, you struggle to change. We can be addicted to food, alcohol, sex, drugs, games, gambling, the internet, to name a few. Sometimes we may think "What's the harm in what I'm doing?" A better question is " How much more happy, fulfilled, successful, content, connected would I be if I could overcome this habit?" Addiction is always on a continuum of consequences that vary from mild to very severe. I cover many topics related to addiction extensively if you would like to read more below.
